Empty DVD Cases - What's Best For You?
Welcome
to Empty DVD Cases, a site dedicated to providing you with information
and updated deals on DVD cases, storage and packaging.
Before you begin shopping for DVD cases, you need to consider what kind
of case or DVD storage solution will best suit you. Some of
the most common types of empty DVD cases are detailed below.
Keep Cases
The Keep Case is the standard DVD packaging case in which virtually
every DVD you buy or rent comes. They are usually black,
although other colors are available, and the typical width is
14mm. They are made of relatively soft polypropylene plastic,
which makes them very hardy and difficult to break, especially compared
to CD jewel cases. Keep cases usually come with an
outer plastic cover, which can hold a printed cover for the DVD you
want to store, and sometimes with small clips on the inside cover to
hold a DVD booklet or other information. If you're replacing
a lost or broken DVD cover and the original had an inside booklet, be
sure that the empty DVD cases that you buy also have these small clips.
Keep cases are also available in slim width, which is usually 7mm, half
the width of the regular keep case. The take up much less
space than the regular size cases, but it may be more difficult to read
the label on the spine, unless it is specifically designed for a slim
case. Blu-Ray DVD cases are similar in style to the regular
sized keep case, but are slightly smaller in height and in width.
Keep cases are also available in double, 4 and 6 DVD
capacities. This may be good for you if you're looking to
store a series of DVDs or if you have limited storage room.
Jewel Cases
Regular CD-style jewel cases can also function as DVD cases, and in
fact, the first DVDs were usually shipped in cases more similar to
jewel cases than to the regular DVD cases we know today. The
two problems with jewel cases are that they usually break more easily
than DVD cases, and if you have any printed covers or inside notes for
your DVDs, they will have trouble fitting into a CD case.
Sleeves
Sleeves are available in paper and plastic versions, and they are the
most economical storage solution in terms of cost and space.
They simply consist of a small envelope made from either paper or
plastic, into which you insert the DVD in order to protect it from dust
and scratches. Sleeves are usuallt relatively cheap and also
take up very little storage room, but they are often difficult to sort
through and they also offer less protection than regular DVD covers.
Binders
DVD binders are small booklets with a hard or soft cover, which contain
a series of plastic pockets in which to store your DVDs.
Binders are an economical way to store DVDs and they also provide a
solid amount of protection. However, they are not very
aesthetic and the can make sorting and finding DVDs a challenge.
If you're looking for empty DVD cases, the standard keep cases are
probably the best option. However, it will definitely be
worth your time to explore all the DVD storage options available before
making your purchase.
